W dine & wine Wins Silver Award and Best Main Course
In MLA Black Box Culinary Challenge
We are happy to share with you the news that W dine & wine won two awards at the high contested MLA Black Box Culinary Challenge held on February 23 at China World Hotel. W dine & wine secured second place and was awarded first runner up as well as the Best Main Course award. There were seven participating teams in Beijing this year including five-star hotels and other restaurants.
Led by W dine & wine’s owner Geoffrey Weckx, the restaurant’s award-winning main course consisted of a creative trio of braised beef potato sushi with mustard mayonnaise, herb-crusted lamb loin with pumpkin cumin puree and cinnamon apple, and one-minute beef tartar with teriyaki twist, broccoli mash and saffron mayonnaise.
Teams were given a Black Box filled with mystery ingredients, including prime Australian beef, sheep meat, fish, spices, fruit and vegetables as well as dairy products and stocks. With one hour to devise a three-course menu using all the ingredients, teams had to prepare a meal which was judged by a panel of international chefs at a gala dinner. Points were awarded for taste, skill, creativity and artistic merit.
W dine & wine will be featuring its Black Box menu for guests to enjoy in March.
